Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……………

Buzzin’ Fly may only be five years old but has already become a tastemaker in releasing underground deep and soulful house and techno tunes. They picked up the House Music Award for Best Breakthrough Label in 2004 and they were runner up for DJ Magazine’s Best Of British Awards for best label in 2007.  Started by Everything But The Girl’s Ben Watt, Buzzin’ Fly is everything a dance oriented independent record label should be. The artists come from a widespread international stable, but Ben Watt is not one to forfeit quality for quantity. The Buzzin’ Fly sound is signature; it is clean, hip and emotive and has already become the favourite of DJs around the world.

To celebrate Buzzin’ Fly’s fifth birthday Ben Watt replaced Buzzin’ Fly’s annual mixed sampler CD with 5 Golden Years in The Wilderness, an unmixed three-disc set consisted of 10 up-tempo floor tracks, 10 atmospheric down tempo tracks and 7 new tracks. To sample some delights from this sonic feast and some other gems from the Buzzin’ Fly catalogue check out the following:

Darkmountaingroup - "Lose Control"

Darkmountaingroup is a collaboration between renowned Portuguese DJ’s Alex Santos and Luis Leite. Released in 2006 this track has already  proven itself to be a electronic dance floor bullet throughout Europe and with its hypnotic beat and Claudia Franco’s sparse and sexy vocals coming in towards the end of the track, its not hard to see why.

Ben Watt
ft.Estelle - "Pop A Cap In Yo Ass" (RADIO EDIT)

Released in 2005, before Estelle became an international sensation, "Pop A Cap In Yo Ass" is a relaxing late night track. Estelle’s no nonsense spoken word works brilliantly against Watt’s melancholic and soulful synth hook.

Ben Watt & Sananda Maitreya - "A Stronger Man"

Released in 2004, ‘A Stronger Man’ features soulful vocals from Terence Trent D’Arby performing under his given name Sananda Maitreya. The saxophone makes this a perfect track for open air listening.

Justin Martin- "The Sad Piano" (CHARLES WEBSTER REMIX)

Hailing from San Francisco, Justin Martin’s breakthrough track was the ethereal and dark "The Sad Piano" which was released in 2003 and made its way into many an A-list DJs playlist as well as entering into Pete Tong’s Buzz Chart.  If you like this check out his 2007 release "Nightowl", while it’s more techy it is no less hypnotic. Rodamaal Ft. Claudia Franco - "Insomnia" (AME REMIX)

Rodamaal is collaboration between Alex Santos (Darkmountaingroup) and French DJ’s Rocco and Manoo; throw in German remixers Ame and you get an evocative, sprawling and epic track. Never has a lack of sleep sounded so good. "Find It, Keep It, Work It, Share It"

Rocco-
"Thursday Night, Friday Morning"

Lyon based Sémakdji Mourad (aka Rocco) is one quarter of Rodamaal and his track "Thursday Night, Friday Morning" contains seductively smooth Balearic beats. Essential listening for nocturnal creatures.

Mlle Caro & Franck Garcia - "Mon Ange"

This film noir track from French duo Caroline Laher and Franck Garcia is intense and romantic. As the Guardian puts it they "specialise in a kind of dignified melancholy. They use a variety of canvases- electro-pop, minimal techno, folktronica- but throughout their sense of restraint is their secret weapon".

Mlle Caro & Franck Garcia – "Dead Souls" (RADIO SLAVE REMIX)

Taken off of their highly acclaimed debut album (released February 2008) this track blends an early 80’s post punk sensibility with Radio Slave’s characteristic deep xylophonic bleeps.

Manoo and Francois A - "Traffic"

French based duo Manoo and Francois A have heated crowds for stars such as David Morales, Todd Terry, and Little Louis Vega. As Manoo puts it he was ‘made for house music and music is (his) house’. Look out for the sulky electric piano between the thudding bass and synths.
