There's something special about James Morrison...He has a voice that starts arguments over whether he sounds more like Al Green or Otis Redding. The young fella from Rugby's been alive for just 2 decades but his voice sounds like it's been around for generations. His debut album Undiscovered is a spellbinding collection of raw, bittersweet, bluesy-soul songs. His brand of soulfulness isn't about trying to pastiche black America's past. But it is about unvarnished honesty, passion and letting your emotions go through songs that stir and inspire.

James was heavily influenced by artists like Al Green, Cat Stevens, Stevie Wonder and The Kinks and he's got substance to match his style. His lyrics pack an authentic emotional punch. He's had plenty of troubled times to draw on. He was born in Rugby, into a fractured family; debt burdens; few prospects; people breaking down around him; childhood friends growing up into adult junkies. There's been love and romance and warmth and laughter too stuff that kept him going through some very tough years. He certainly has had more than enough life experiences to fill a debut.

Teaching himself to sing and play the guitar came naturally to James from the age of 5, but it wasn't until his uncle taught him an old blues riff when he was 13 that things started to really fall into place. From here he started to carve his own sound with inspiration from a bunch of old soul records and by channelling his troubled past into penning some hard knock lyrics and incredible, stirring songs.

He wrote all the songs on Undiscovered which was produced by Martin Terefe (who also produced KT Tunstall, Ron Sexsmith and Ed Harcort).
