NEW ALBUM SPOTLIGHT
John Fogerty’s latest Verve album “The Blue Ridge Rangers” is a collection of wonderful revivals of favorite songs of yesteryear. Leading the pack is Phil Everly’s WHEN WILL I BE LOVED on which the former Creedence frontman is joined by Bruce Springsteen; they turn this Everly Brothers oldie into a no-holds barred country jam. Two other Sony/ATV songs are featured in the set: Rick Nelson’s GARDEN PARTY and Bob Geddins’ fun-filled HAUNTED HOUSE.

he UNFORGETTABLE BILLIE HOLIDAY
50 years and her legend lives on
Billie Holiday died at 3.10.a.m. on Friday July 17, 1959 in New York’s Metropolitan hospital; she was just forty-four years old. Known affectionately as Lady Day, she was one of the great jazz singers though a longtime addiction to drugs and alcohol robbed her of a regular lifestyle. Frank Sinatra said: “Billie was the greatest single musical influence on me. She taught me matters of shading, phrasing, dark tones, light tones and bending notes.”
Billie Holiday’s records are still being played and we list below twenty Sony/ATV songs that she recorded for various labels. Listen to the samples on our Associated Playlist and you’ll realize what haunting mood-pieces they are which could easily find a place on movie or TV soundtracks.
